Transportation & Linkage

Twentynine Palms Highway (State Route 62) is the major east-west traffic and commercial corridor for the city. It also provides linkage to the nearby High Desert communities of Joshua Tree, Yucca Valley, and Morongo Valley, as well as linkage to the Low Desert cities in the Coachella Valley.

County-owned Twentynine Palms Airport is 6 miles east of the city, and private Twentynine Palms SELF Airport si 9 miles northwest of the city. Palm Springs International Airport is 52 miles south of Twentynine Palms.

Morongo Basin Transit Authority provides bus transportation within and between the High Desert Cities and the Marine Base, as well as northwest to Landers and southwest Palm Springs.
